An interview series by Fair Tech Policy Lab
“Voices in Fair Tech” is an interview series that features a diverse group of researchers, practitioners, experts, and everyday stakeholders working, fighting, or interacting at the frontlines of fair AI governance. What makes this series unique is the global convergence of perspectives it offers, spanning disciplines from policy and computer science to communication and data science.
Each guest brings a unique perspective on how their life and work intersect with the real-world impacts of algorithmic systems and how their expertise can inform, improve, or contribute to global conversations on technology policy.
This series goes beyond top-down perspectives. It amplifies the voices of those fighting for equity in their own communities, industries, and countries, alongside those who experience algorithmic harm firsthand: gig workers subject to exploitative algorithmic management, individuals impacted by gender bias in hiring systems, students disadvantaged by automated grading tools, and communities marginalised by surveillance technologies.
But the end of each interview does not mean the end of this conversation. Your role as a listener matters. By knowing, by understanding, you become part of shaping a more just technological future.
Technology should not shape society. People should leverage technology as a societal actor, an opportunity to uplift marginalised groups by bringing the bias embedded in historical data to the forefront. Developing fairer technology policies is essential to realising this potential.
Listen. Learn. Rethink what’s possible.
